Ojoshi

Ojoshi (usually referred to as Ojoshi-sama) was the first woman sacrificed to the Sea God, and became his wife. Uroko claims that the wooden figures of her are inaccurate, as the original Ojoshi-sama was freckled and frail.
Ojoshi was unable to forget about the man she loved on the surface, causing her to despair. However, the man she loved had already dived into the ocean to find her, and drowned. Thus, the Sea God let her return to the surface, in return taking her ability to love.
