Hyogo

One of Ayamaro’s bodyguards along with Kyuzo. A samurai with an androgynous appearance, Hyogo always competes with Kyuzo over skill. He fights with the samurai on several occasions, and eventually works with the Nobuseri to track them down. He switches out his katana for a heavy cannon, claiming that he should tried guns years ago. When the samurai exit the caves of the Shikimoribito, Hyogo and some Nobuseri ambush them with guns. As Hyogo is about to finish off Kambei, Kyuzo suddenly appears and kills him, saying that he betrayed the merchants because he wanted to live.
